Built to blend.
Project Style: Craftsman
Size: 3 bedrooms; 3.5 bathrooms;
Duplex;
3,000 sq. ft.
Home Story:
It can be a daunting task to remain
distinctive while blending in to your
surroundings. Such is the task of a new
home in an Historic Preservation District.
This duplex succeeds on all levels,
pleasing the
client, neighbors and
neighborhood, as well
as the
Architectural Review Commission.
Challenges & Points of Interest:
No matter how you slice it, home
construction is
not invisible. Once
started you definitely have a presence
in a neighborhood for several months.
The trick on this project was to try to
remain on schedule and budget while
working within the confines of a busy,
densely populated 1920’s neighborhood
complete with narrow streets,
limited
parking, extensive foot traffic, and all
under the watchful eyes of concerned
residents
plus a Review Board.
Perseverance led to success.
