Home Story: True to Georgian aesthetic principles, symmetry is a dominant element, with a clear, formal balance leading the way. This early sketch illustrates the homeowner’s desire to remain true to the style.

Challenges & Points of Interest: When Hurricane Helen hit in 2024, the perimeter walls surrounding their residence were destroyed. The homeowners decided it was time to build a new, more hurricane-resistant property. By designing a home with no greater than 10% of the original structure’s square footage, they qualified for ‘portability’ under local tax regulations. This will ensure that their property taxes remain consistent with their previous assessments.

South Tampa, Davis Islands – Coastal Contemporary

Home Story: Time for an entirely new look. The homeowners bought this one-story home a while ago, now they are ready to break ground on their
3-story contemporary dream home. They will maximize the views with expansive windows on every floor as well as skylights down the roof’s center spine! This home’s site plan takes advantage of the panoramas offered from the front elevation, hence the terraces to relax
and capture it all.

Challenges & Points of Interest: Davis Islands is its own enclave, complete with a beautiful general aviation airport. Island building codes will be adhered to of course, as well as those specifically for the small aircraft.

Home Story: These homeowners are veterans at home-building and remodeling. They already had moved out of this home of 20 years, and had drawings on the board for their new-build when Hurricane Helene hit, flooding everything. Their updated design is within the local property tax ‘portability’ parameters ensuring their new home will remain at pre-hurricane tax levels.

Challenges & Points of Interest: A home built on this canal-front location must be cognizant of rising water potential. Prudently, the ground floor is predominantly garage area.
